Unhide query design grid in design view.

I have taken over an access database from a retired co-worker. In the query
design view - the design grid is hidden. I can see the query in the SQL view
and in the datasheet all the output columns are shown.

How do I unhide the design grid. All the literature I've found for unhiding
the grid assumes that only a part of the grid is hidden (rows or columns).
What is the process when the entire grid is hidden?

Switch the query to design view.
Some queries don't have a design view at all and you can't make it appear.
Union queries are like this, they are built using SQL view.
Search the sql view of this query for the word 'union', if you find it, then
you have a union query.

It's append query. No "union" found.

Would you post the sql view of the query.
Just highlight the whole query in sql view and copy and paste in a reply to
this post.
