Hi All,
I have some text files that I have been using monthly for years. Recently,
our company upgraded to Access 2003, and now the files are seen as "unicode"
upon initial attempt at import. They are standard text files with comma
delimitation and quote qualifiers.
I can go into the Advanced tab and change from UNICODE to US-ASCII, but I
have to do this every time I import, as even if I save the specs, I can't
seem to apply these specs to the files on import. My files are extremely
large, and didn't used to take too long to import (in Access 97), but in
2003, the transition phase from "unicode to ascii" takes hours.
Is this just an "upgrade" i have to deal with? I have looked through my
source files and don't see anything that would be causing Access to
initially see the files as unicode.
