Uninstall non-genuine Office XP

G. T.

I found out while attempting to update my Office XP that it would not pass
the Office Genuine Advantage test. I took advantage of the Genuine
Advantage offer and filled out the forms and mailed them with my non-genuine
Office XP installation disk to Microsoft. I received an Office 2007
Standard as a replacement for the non-genuine software.

I have tried to uninstall Office XP through the Add/Remove programs and when
I click Remove a dialog box states that the feature that I am trying to
access is on the Office XP Professional disk, which I no longer have after
sending it to Microsoft. The "PRORET.MSI" file that the dialog box can
accessed to uninstall but the file is not on my computer.

I do not know how to uninstall the non-genuine Office XP without the disk
before installing the Office 2007. Is there a means to uninstall without
the disk?

Thank you,
G. T.

Download a copy of JV 16 power tools, use with caution! Do a custom remove
of software, in the root directory there should be a product install for
Office XP, delete this key. {HKEY_Classes_root\Installer\Products\...} if
you want to do manually, it is just a matter of going through each key one
by one until you find the correct product name. If you are not proficient at
editing the registry DO NOT attempt this procedure. I have used this several
times for products that refuse to uninstall correctly. Incorret editing of
the registry can make 'puter unbootable.

Good Luck.
