Uninstall Utility for Office 2003?

Gary

In previous versions of Office, there was a utility to perform a clean
uninstall, over and above the add/remove programs in control panel. So far,
my search has not found a similar utility for Office 2003. Does one exist? If
not, is there a knowledge based article that I missed somewhere with
specifics on how to remove every trace of Office 2003? I am dealing with
multiple issues and short of reimaging my machine, I'd like to try this
option first.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

The Windows Installer cleanup utility might be handy. This can be used to
remove the "registry entries" of any programs installed using the windows
installer. And once you remove office this it is like a clean uninstall.

You can download it from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

Arun,

Thanks for replying, but, the following disclaimer applies to that knowledge
base article:

The Windows Installer CleanUp Utility does not perform the following
functions:
• Remove Windows Installer
• Remove files of any programs that are installed by Windows Installer, such
as Microsoft Office 2003

You can try the Office Removal Wizard which is located in the
\FILES\PFILES\MSOFFICE\OFFICE11 folder on the install CD. OFFCLN.EXE is the
file to run.

Also, you might want to post the issues you are having before reimaging your
machine as someone may be able to help resolve it and save you some time and
work.

S9,

Thanks for that tip. I'll give it a shot.

Is this a good, clean uninstall utility or does it produce the same
functionality as 'add/remove' programs leaving folders, settings, and
registry entries behind?

No, it doesn't do the same thing add/remove does. It is a cleanup utility
to be used in addition to the add/remove function.

Run the add/remove first then this utility to clean up stuff left behind.

The other thing you can do it remove it manually...

delete the Office folder from "Program Files"
delete the hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\office\11.0
registry key

Should remove all you need to cleanly do a reinstall.
