Uninstall Word

I'm running Microsoft Word 2000 SR-1 and it is giving me
an error every time I tried to open a file or start a new
document. Doesn't matter where I try to open it.

Winword has caused an error in WINWORD.EXE
Winword will now close.

If you continue to have problems,
try restarting your computer.

Here are the things I have tried

1. Restarting my computer. Didn't help
2. <start> <settings> <control panel> <add/remove>
tried to remove the word program. Didn't work
3. Used the setup disk (Microsoft Works Suite Setup) try
remove the Word program. When I used the remove utility
nothing happened.
4. Restored my computer to an earlier date. No good

I'm at a loss of what to do.

Does any one know the manual way to delete this word
program ??? (clear registery, delete associated files,
etc.)

Any help would be welcome and much appreciated...
