Unique ID

T

Tracey

Hi,

Could anyone please help me? I'm new to MS Project and
need a unique ID.
I have inserted a column "Unique ID" but the numbers don't follow
a numeric order e.g. 1,2, 3,4...etc instead it's rather haphazard.

Is this normal or is there a fault?

Many Thanks
Tracey

Hello Tracey,
It's normal, in fact it is due to the very definition of a unique ID : a
task must keep it's Unique ID during all it's life, event if it's ID (# of
line) may change at any time.

Hi Tracey,
The UniqueID is given to the task when it is entered
Since it is unique, when you change the order or insert tasks, it is not
renumbered so it will be out of order.
