Units = 5,000%

Hugh

A number of us have trouble with "Units" for a resource.
For example, we assign 10 hours over 10 days and Project
decides that the Units should be some horrendously high
figure. We can adjust Units, but when we save and reopen
the file, Units are often up high again.

Anybody seen this before or know how to fix?

Thanks

Hi Hugh,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

I think we need more information. Have you tried a new project with one
task and one resource? What happens? What are your Task Type settings?How
are you doing the assignment? If you split the screen, what are the values
in the lower pane?

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on:)

Mike,

-- I have only seen this problem in projects with multiple
tasks and multiple resources
-- I haven't been able to purposefully make it happen
-- Task settings do not seem to matter. It happens with
Fixed, Effort Driven, Fixed Units. It has happened in
several projects made by several people. It's a problem
for us with project showing overallocations.

-- Here's an example:

Duration = 150 days
Start = 12/18/02
Finish = 12/24/03
Task Type = Fixed Work
% Complete = 85%
Units = 267%
Work = 21.43 hrs
Actual Work = 20.4 hrs
Remaining Work = 1.03 hours

Thanks for your response

Hi Hugh,

None of your figures make any sense unless you have a strange calendar set
up. For example, with the default 8 hour day calendar, 150 days from 18 Dec
02 would finish on 15 Jul 03. You might like to check your calendar
settings. If they are OK, I can only suspect some form of corruption. You
could try the save/load suggestion given in FAQ Item: 43. File Bloat? -
Might be Corruption. FAQs, companion products and other useful Project
information can be seen at this web address: http://www.mvps.org/project/

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on:)
