Units Contour

I need to plan the work assignment on a monthly basis
using a contour template. e.g. I want to plan earthwork
excavation units of say total 1,00,000 cum to be executed
in June (say 10,000 cum), July (15,000 cum), Aug (20,000
cum), Sept (20,000 cum), Oct(20,000 cum) & Nov (15,000
cum). How can I achieve this in MSP2k? I dont want the
conversion of these units to time equivalent.

Is "cum" a unit of volume, ie, cubic meters? Sorry, but Project works with
duration units (time) and work units (man-hours). Is it practical for you
to express the volume excavated in terms of the man-hours of labour required
to do it? I can't see volume equating with time -- hours of duration and
man-hours of work are NOT measuring the same thing, an hour is a unit of
time but a man-hour is not a unit of time at all, it is a unit of sweat --
but it seems like it would have a fairly direct relation to the work. If 1
man can move 1 m^3 per hour, he will take 10 hours to move 10 m^3. If I can
get two men I can get it done in 5 hours and 4 men can do it in 2.5. The
volume to be moved thus is directly related to the man-hours of work it will
take to move it while the time it will take depends on the rate I can get to
work done.

Hi Mandar,

It's difficult to help someone who posts that he does not want to use the
only solution.
Converting to time is the only way when you use Project.

Hi Mandar ,

Please use the Project 2002 newsgroups referenced in FAQ No 24: Project and
Project VBA Newsgroups, at this web address: http://www.mvps.org/project/ .
You are more likely to get an answer there.
