Unlimited resource problem

Thanks to this board we were able to recover, using ODBC access, a
project that we have been unable to open for two weeks. The problem
seems to be that the .mpp file, after recovery, was well over 20MB in
size, largely because there were some 65,000 "blank" resources
displayed in the resource sheet. The real project had 3, spread over
some 30 tasks. Cut and paste into a new project and it is fine-- 2 MB
with the complete actual work information. Has anyone else seen this
behavior, and how can it be prevented from happening again?

Bill's explanation is very plausible. Something like this can also happen if
someone clicks and drags a value in the resource sheet and unwittingly
creates a bunch of blank local resources. It's really easy to create
hundreds on a fast computer that scrolls very quickly.

I hope it is as you say. The one thing that made me question was
that the number of resources was 65,536 (64k) which sounded like it
might have stopped only because of a "hard limit" in the software on
the number of resources.

It's an interesting observation. If it were maybe the size of a scroll
buffer, it would even tie in to the alternate theory I proposed. Someone
with deeper knowledge of the software than myself would have to tackle that
question. I'm afraid it's out of my range.
