unmatched files

I upgraded computer and fp2003 at the same time. After install, I copied my site to harddrive from the cd I copied it on. Than looked at the screen where you see both "local" and "remote" views. I noticed lots of unmatched files. So I downloaded the remote to local to have a exact copy. Which took a few hours(250meg) and I still have the same problem?
If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it!

Did you publish the web to a folder
and then burn to the CD, or just
burn the folder containing the local web??
If you simply burned the folder and then copied
it back that is the problem.

As for "downloading" how did you download.
If you imported the web there will be problems.

Open the live web in FP and select File > Publish web..
and publish it back to your computer. Then everything
"should" match.

Thanks for the info Mr. Easton

I did the import function the first time around.

This time when I open the site that resides on the server, than try to publish it. It shows me the server as being local and harddrive as remote? Does it matter? I'm just very afraid of loosing a years worth of work. I also have never really figured out how to back up the site. All I have been doing in the past is coping the entire local (harddrive) folder with hidden files also to a Cd. What is the correct way?

Thanks

Anytime you upgrade FP versions the webs will be out of sync until to do a File Publish ALL (either way) at least once - to get all
the new META files sync'd for the new version)
And yes, in FP2003 the Local is always the currently open FP site (on your PC, or at your URL), and the Remote is the Publish
Destination (the other location at your URL, or at your PC)
- so if you open your online site in FP it become the Local (to FP for that session) and your disc based web is your Remote
