Unmeanted columns in FAX template download

I downloaded a fax template into Word and everytime I try to type into the
fax, the whole doc is split into columns that prevent me from using the whole
horizontal space. I thought maybe this could be a problem with the normal.dot
file, but when I open Word I do get a blank document. However when I try to
find normal.dot in search, it's not there even though my folder option/view
does have "show hidden files" checked.
Can anyone explain what's going on and how to get a fax template that is not
columnized.
I'm using Office 2003, on a HP m7260n XP MCE. The same happens on my laptop
HPzv5330 unit with XP Home.

Thanks

Normal.dot is a hidden file in the folder defined at tools > options > file
locations > user templates; but it is unlikely to be the reason why this
template is set up in columns. That is almost certainly how the termplate
was designed - probably by using a borderless table to create the text
spaces. Verify by displaying the grid lines - Table > Show Gridlines. Modify
the template to suit your requirements. In fact the last sentence would
apply however the template was set up.

Graham:

Thanks for your reply.
I wasn't aware that MS FAX Forms were set up as tables. Showing the
gridlines clearly illustrated that.
