Unnecessary save

What would cause Excel X to ask me if I want to save a file after I open it, do
nothing and then close it?

If the file contained complex formulas and recalculated it may be marked as
"dirty" and thus asks you to save changes.

Aha. It is complex. Perhaps if I turn off automatic calculations.

Thanks and I apologize for reposting. My newsreader is acting strangely and I
wasn't sure the prior message was sent.
