Unprotect a document

I'm trying to edit a document that was e-mailed to me, however, I'm unable to
manipulate the data. Is it possible the document is protected and if so is it
possible to unprotect it?

It could be protected or it might be a read only. To see if it is protected,
go to Tools/Protect Document. If it is protected and has a password you
won't be able to do anything with it.

If my memory serves me correctly, if the file is a ready only it will tell
you that on the file when it is open. If that's the case, you can only save
it as a different name and then make your changes to it as you wish.

Also, there are different kinds of protection.
If the document is "only" (password) protected for forms, you can simply open a new doc and use "Insert > File".

Another reason why you might not be able to edit a document is if it contains embedded fonts that don't allow for editing.
Don't remember, but I guess the error message you get if you try to edit should give a hint in that case.

Klaus
