Unread messages view

Hi,

I'm looking to modify the unread messages view.

Ideally, all unread messages will be displayed first,
sorted by date received, then the read messages will be
displayed following the unread messages, also sorted by
date received.

Eg:
UNREAD MESSAGE 1: 01/02/04
UNREAD MESSAGE 2: 01/01/04
UNREAD MESSAGE 3: 01/01/04
read message 1: 01/02/04
read message 2: 01/01/04

Is this possible? I've tried fiddling with the options,
but it remains a mystery to me...
I'd appreciate any help you can give me.
