unread messages?

I have 27 unread messages in my inbox but i cannot find them. Could it be a
profile issue? If I logon the same account on another computer there are no
unread messages.

You mean next to it in blue?
Then you probably have a filter applied to your view. Verify or reset you
view settings via View-> Arrange By-> Custom...
