Unread status doesn't change even after I read the email

When I read a message in a public folder that I manage it
doesn't reflect that I have read it(still shows 1 message
unread(in bold)). I am using Outlook 2003. Any ideas? I
tried manually saying Mark All as Read but it doesn't
change the status????
