Hi Bernd!
Thanks for responding. I did try the Database Utilities - compact and repair database, but it just gave me the same error message "unrecognized database format." Somehow, my file got corrupted. I just want to know if there is any way I can still salvage it. I will appreciate any suggestions.
This error can occur if the database is corrupted, or if it's in a
later version of Access than the version with which you're trying to
open it. If someone has opened the database in Access XP and saved it
in XP format, for instance, you would get this error if you are
running Access2000. Is that possible in your case?
There is a program named JETCOMP.EXE which can (sometimes) repair a
database that cannot be opened. Search your disk for it; if you don't
find it it can be downloaded from
http://support.microsoft.com -
search the Downloads area.
If all else fails there are third-party database salvage service; see
http://www.pksolutions.com for a highly regarded one.
