Unsubmitted timesheet

K

Karine Johannesen

Hi!
We currently don't have any ressource managers in our system because we
would like project managers to approve both task updates and timesheets.
However right now project managers only receive task updates. We don't
understand where the timesheets are going since no one receives them...

When a team member presses "Update all" only task updates get send to
Project managers. So when exactly does pressing "update all" ever sends out
a timesheet??

PWA keeps telling task members that their timesheets have not been
submitted. However when they press "Update All" it says that there is no
information to be updated and no timesheets get send out.

Do you have any idea what the problem might be?
Thank you!

Assuming you are using the Managed Time Periods feature in Project Server
2003, then by default, members of the Resource Managers group have
permission to approve timesheets. If you want your project managers to be
able to perform this action, you should add them to the Resource Managers
group, and leave them in the Project Managers group as well. If you are not
using Managed Time Periods, then you cannot enable the timesheet approval
function at all, and it will not be available for anyone in the system.
Hope this helps.

Have you enabled managed periods and then enabled approve timesheets in the
server configuration.

Also, there has to be a User nominated to approve timesheets e.g. there has
to be somewhere for them to go.

In the scenario you described you could either make a user a member of both
project managers and resource managers or double up the functions of the
project manager group

The group that is doing the time sheet approvals must be associated with a
cateogry that gives the members of that group access to approve timesheets
for the resources in that category

I hope that helps
