made in excel 2007. we get the unsupported pivot table report styles error. an update or a different version. I would think the latest version of pc office and mac office would be compatible

Hi,

Unfortunately, pivot tables in Mac Excel is not at parity with Windows
Excel. I am hoping the next release of Mac Excel will remedy this
situation, but we'll have to wait and see.

Okay, but is there some way to figure out what the unsupported style is, so
that one can remove it in Excel 2007 and render the file Mac-compatible again?

There's a broad line of distinction between "file compatibility" & "feature
parity" :) If the file employs features available only in a certain version
of the program that's the only version which can open/edit it. If you have
access to Excel 2007/2010 it should be readily discernable what features &
formatting have been used once you open the file. Simply selecting the Pivot
Table will cause contextual tabs to appear on the Ribbon & the currently
applied settings will be indicated there.

In this case, on the PC side use Save-As and use 97 through 2003 .xls
format. That should remove the style.
