Unticking "End with black slide" does not seem to work in a window

I want to run my presentation in a window and have the presentation close
automatically when it finishes. I have unticked "End with a black slide" in
the Powerpoint options- Advanced and this works if I run the presentation
full screen but in a window I still get the "End of slideshow, click to exit"
message.
How can I stop this?

Hi Steve, unfortunately it runs automatically. I have tried sneaking up on
the problem by looking for the SlideShowEnd event but although I get a
SlideShowBegin event the end one never appears when running in a window
although I do get it when running in speaker mode.
Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Steve, I am working with C++ and MFC rather than VBA, however if there is
a VBA solution I am willing to translate. I was planning on using the end
event to tidy up and do a quit but without the event I don't know when the
last slide has finished. Thanks for replying.

Hi Steve, went with the extra black slide idea and it worked a treat. Thanks
very much.
