unusual shutdown message

Every time i open a document in word 2003 (?) I get this message-

runtime error

c\rogram files\microsoft office\office 11\winword.exe

This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the applications support team for more information.

I can't use word at all... i don't know why.

Please help!!

Runtime errors are indicative that a macro is trying to run incompatible
code. See if you can start Word in Safe Mode. From Start, Run, type in

winword /a

and press enter. Word should open in Safe Mode. Now look in Tools, Macros
and see what is listed. I suggest that you disable the macros and test Word
again. If it runs with macros disabled, try to find out what installed the
macros and see if they have updated them to run with Word 2003.
