Unusual start-up process for Office programs

My client's office has 7 PCs, one of which is experiencing this unusual
operation: When Word or Excel are started they take lnoger to start (up to a
minute or so), and exhibit some unusual behavior. The window for Word opens
in the background of other existing windows (IE - it doesn't open as the
'active' windows). Excel displays messages of "Installing Components for
Microsost Excel... ...Installing: Microsoft Excel feature". Once they're
opened the programs work fine.

Any ideas on...
....what could be causing this behaviour?
....how I can diagnose it; is there any way to monitor the start-up process?

The workstation is WinXP Home Edition, program is Office XP.

Thanks in advance for your help!

:)

Nevermind. After running a 're-install', and applying updates, the behaviour
changed. Understanding would be nice; results overrule.

Thanks Anyway,
Pete
