Unwanted dotted balck line.

Linda

In a Word document when I have used *'s to make a line separating paragraphs, I get to the end of the line with the * and enter, a black dotted line appears instead. Then I can't get rid of it! Sometimes I can't even type below it. It will not delete off the document. Anyone else have this and what did you do?
Thanks, Linda

Hi Linda

The line is a border that has been created because of an AutoFormat As You
Type option setting. For details of how to remove and prevent it happening
again see:

and

Linda,

Your Tools>AutoCorrect Options>AutoFormatAsYouType
settings has applied a paragraph border.

With cursor above the line, Format>Borders and
Shading>Borders and click the "None" panel.

Tools>Tools>AutoCorrect
Options>AutoFormatAsYouType>ApplyAsYouType, uncheck
borders as a minimum and recommend you uncheck all the
options.
