I'm using Excel XP, preparing cost estimates.
In my summary page, cell references display the name and total of each
category, from the associated category page in the document.
When I insert a new line for a new category, and "point and shoot" to assign
the formula, e.g., ="A425", it displays the formula rather than the cell
reference value, e.g., "Carpentry". I've tried formatting the cell as Text
and General, copying another cell reference that is displaying correctly, and
then editing the formula, and painting the new cell from one that is
working--none work.
Can anyone tell me what's going on?
Thanks.
