You said in the original posting:- You don't have to install the early
version when you upgrade, you simply
need the cd available to point to when the upgrade complains.
Can you please be more explicit and tell me how do I "point" to the CD when
the 2003 Upgrade tells me that it cannot install the Upgrade and will I
install Office 2000 first. Thanks in advance.

When you get the msg that it cannot find a qualifying or earlier version it
also gives you the option to browse to the earlier, at this point you eject
the 2003 cd, insert the 2000 cd and browse to your cd drive.
Once authenticated swap the cd for the 2003 and continue with the upgrade
