Update 11.3.8 for Office and Entourage

Hi everyone

I've noticed a couple of posts about problems encountered with the
latest office update 11.3.8 for Mac with regard to word, excel,
powerpoint and entourage not opening or crashing, in my case the icon
just bounced and stopped.

There are several suggestions from MVP's on here about what to do but
thought I'd tell you what I did which has seemed to work (so far
anyway) and got rid of those framework library errors.

As the update was for Word I re-installed Word from my original disk.
I then checked for updates (Help/check for updates menu) and performed
update 11.3.5, then 11.3.6 and then 11.3.7 (as that was what version
was indicated as being on my mac already. After restart programmes
all working fine.

This has now enabled me to open my entourage and have access to all my
old emails (thank goodness). Have also done back-up so, if it happens
again and I need to completely install - or as someone suggested
archive and install the whole mac I at least have info to import.

Hope that this helps anyone else who encounters this problem.

Hi Lawsathome,

thanks for your input. The framework library error actually says that some
parts of Office are older than others, so whenever you get this kind of
message, re-appling the updates is the solution.

Then it it adviceble to run Disk utility > Repair disk permition

And backuping all you important documents and emails will save you a loooot
of time and mental health - If you have many backups, then if something goes
wrong with your presentation 20 minutes before the lessons starts (such as
you blindly update PC), you always have anything to present to students. In
my case it also saves my colleagues mental health
