Update 11.5.6 cause all Formatting to not work properly

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Since installing software update 11.5.6 in early Dec 2009, the Formatting functions have gone haywire. When I change a word, line, paragraph or any other selected text to bold, centered, bullets, or anything else, Word changes the entire document to that new format. The only solution seems to be to undo command Z two or three times, to undo the whole document change, then redo what I originally asked it to do.

any solutions?

You have set the style in use to "Automatically update"
