I am having newly occurring problem with my documents
showing incorrect page numbers upon opening. If I run a
macro that updates all fields after opening the document
the correct page numbers show in all headers and/or
footers. When I first open the document however the first
page of the document shows Page 1 of 1 regardless how many
pages exist. If I print the document, or print preview,
the first page numbering changes to Page 1 of 2 even when
the document has more the two pages. I have checked to
ensure that all section breaks are properly formatted to
prevent misnumbering, but this has no affect.
I am using the field codes {Page} of {Numpages}, Windows
98 and Word 2000, SR3. Again, when I run the macro that
updates all fields the document shows correct page numbers
on all pages. When I save the document and reopen the
numbering goes back to showing page 1 of 1 on page 1.
This is a very bizarre problem and appears to be some sort
of bug. Is anyone familiar with it or know of a resolution?
Thanks
