I received an automatic Entourage 2008 update last night. At the
conclusion of a lengthy time Entourage left me with deleted address
book, deleted email folders and deleted email rules. Is there anyway
to recover the above? I am traveling and will be away from my Airport
for another 3 months.

First, use the Entourage menu --> Switch Identity... feature to make
sure Entourage has not lost its way to your identity, which stores your
information. By default this is called "Main Identity" but if you see
others then switch to each to look for your messages.

If you don't find your information then chances are that you've moved or
renamed some folders. Entourage looks for your information in one
specific place in your home folder. Verify in the Finder that you
haven't changed anything along this line of folders starting at the top
level of your hard drive:

/Users/yourname/Documents/Microsoft User Data
/Office 2008 Identities/Main Identity/Database

The Database file is where you information lives. If you've recently
moved it or changed the names of any of these folder then put them back.

Hope this helps!

You can also check the size of your database file.

Examples of a blank database
2004 --> 18.1 KB
2008 --> 22.6 MB

Tip: Never update your software when traveling. The AutoUpdater does not
automatically install. It will download the installer but you have to select
to continue.

My guess if you did not move your data is you have a severe case of the
update going wonky. You will need to follow directions here:

One last question...did you quit all applications including the Microsoft
Database daemon before installing?
