Update Error

Vista Basic 32bit sp2
I've been trouble shooting this in micrsoft.public windowsupdate.
Although he problem isn't resolved one person suggested that this is
cause by either a malware infection or a corrupted OS and suggested
I format my HD an reinstall vista. Burt before I take this drastic measure
I figured I'd ask here since it involves an Office product.

When I check for updates with Office Access by clicking the 'Check for Updates
it doesn't send me to the office web site and it doesn't trigger Windows Update.
It suggests I install Microsoft Update. At least that's the impression I get.
I get the following error number:
Error number: 0x80070002
I am told:
"The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are
trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the "
When I run Windows Update I see:

You receive updates for: For Windows and other products from Microsoft Update
Does that mean that Microsoft Update is installed?
How do I know if Office Access 2007 is up-to-date?

Thanks,
James

renaming that folder didn't work.
I'll probably just use Windows Update which gets updates for Windows and other products from Microsoft Update

Unless you can think of something else.
