Update Fields Stops Working

There seems to be a problem with office that can only be fixed by deleting
the user profile. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions or ideas as to
cause.

Over the course of a month or two, a user will use an application to update
the custom properties in a document. The fields will then update and the
document will print. This works... until the user hits some number of
documents printed. Then the user needs to be deleted from the system and
re-added... or Office will not print the updated field.

Any ideas?
