Update links automatically in PPT when using a hyperlink from exce

I have created a hyperlink from excel to a powerpoint presentation and I want
to update the links automatically in the presentation when the presentation
opens so that it can be printed by the user without having to update links.
The auto update function in the powerpoint links do not appear to operate
when I open the presentation in this manner.
