Update picture changes wrap points, Pub 2002 & 03

The Rock

I have struggled with this problem for six months. Whenever I update a
graphic in Pub 2002 or 03beta2, any custom wrap points are erased. It is
interesting to note the transparency setting used via the "Magic Wand" will
be the same, and the default wrap settings are the same. E.g. White is still
transparent, and Tight is still Tight, but the one wrap point I moved to
generate white space between the girl's hair and the text defaults to Tight.

This behavior was not evident in Pub 2000, which I have used for two years.
Someone suggested reclicking Text Wrapping and reselecting Tight, and
clicking No to Rest Wrap Boudary? I tried this. It doesn't work.

I can give step by step instructions to recreate this problem, and also to
acheive the desired results in Pub 2000 if necessary.

This is my one gripe with Publisher. IMO, it is the only area that it fails
Quark Xpress out of box. (I couldn't afford the plug-ins for Quark, which
might make a difference.)

The Escher drawing tools
introduced in Publisher 2002 are the biggest load of faulty trash
buggy junk introduced in Publisher 2002.
Which is why they have been such a roaring success in Word and PowerPoint
since Version 97 (8)
Will be interesting to see
if they have left this same buggy junk in Publisher 2003.
Escher isn't going from Publisher until it goes from the rest of Office.
And that could take some time yet.

Ed you obviously do not use the tools, or use them in such a limited fashion
you have no idea about all the faults and bugs in Pub 2002.

They don't even function correctly on basic *.WMF files.

Ed I gave up with the faulty garbage after I realised what a disaster the
Escher drawing tools were.

I went back to using the superior product that MS removed from Publisher
2000 - MS Draw 1.01

I will try Publisher 2003 and see how they go. It will be interesting to
see if they improved and fixed all the bugs.

So you can't actually tell me what's wrong with it, just that it's bad.
How is it supposed to be improved if Microsoft don't know what's wrong with
it?
Or alternatively, how is it supposed to be replaced with something good if
Microsoft don't know what to look for? (And please DON'T say that Draw 1.01
needs to be put back in, because I and most people I have talked to hated
that product. It was so Windows 3.1ish)

Well actually, Draw 1.0 was the ultimate product as it had fully
variable dot screens. Who cares if it was Win 3.1ish, it was a
quality product, that gave no problems, has great features and
works!!!
List the features!! List the features!!
I mean, I prefer the featureset in Escher 2002 by far - gradients,
semitransparency, textures, customisable AutoShapes, and the ability to copy
and paste Word drawings in without turning them into uneditable graphics.
Go and dig up in the archives the Pub 2002 Beta newsgroups and you
will find out all you need to know what did not work.
I don't have access to these.

Ed, I can tell you one thing, just playing around in Pub2003, it appears to
work better than 2002. Pictures I could not get to function in 2002, opened
in 2003 function.

It is the same in Pub2003 fully refreshed at the Office Update Website.

The custom wrap points are erased.

Brian just create it, as he could not send a sample file to demonstrate the
problem, only screen captures.

For example if you take a WordArt, copy it to the Clipboard, go to menu Edit
Paste Special, Paste as Picture, change wrap boundaries, change options
and wrap boundaries - are gone - like magic.
