Update Project

I am looking for information regarding the function, "Update Project". We
use an external tool, EPK to capture timesheet data. The software contains a
function to grab the project hours from the timesheets and apply the actuals
to the project schedule. We were just recently told to fully show the impact
of the actual hours charged, we need to also do "Update Project". We were
told doing so would reschedule tasks that had not started and also reschedule
in progress tasks to reflect remaining work. I guess what I'm looking for is
clarification that this is an appropriate function to use and also would
appreciate a heads up of potential problems this could cause.

Chris,

a couple of questions, the "update Project" function you are trying to
figure out, is this an EBK function? when you say that you use EPK to manage
your timesheets, I would assume that the "Update Project" function is also an
EBK function. If this is the case, you may want to contact EBK to fully
explain this function.

Assuming that "update Project" means nothing else then "take the actual
hours you entered in teh timesheet and update your project with these
values", what essentially would happen, I believe, is that actual work would
be updated in your project within tasks. Since task have the abillity to have
dependencies on other tasks, it would essentally mean that some tasks may
move based on actual work. This is a function that is wanted, sine Project
has a schedule engine it does the work for you so to speak.

I hope this makes sense
