update unsubmitted timesheet

How can we update/submit the unsubmitted timesheet of team members beside
using surrogate timesheet?

The problem is we're using monthly timesheet and if the team members are
absent and we need to close the timesheet period, we just want to enter the
remaining timesheet of the team members instead of creating a new one using
surrogate functions to enter the whole timesheet period.

It seems there is no way to retrieve the team menbers unsubmitted timesheet,
update and submit on his behalf.

You are correct that there is no way to submit a timesheet on a user's
behalf other than surrogate timesheets. If you have the means to do
development you could use PSI calls to do timesheet submissions on a user's
behalf. Submit that question to microsoft.public.project.developer for
help.

FYI, in PS 2010 there is a new delegation feature that will resolve your
issues. It allows a user or an administrator to delegate their account to
someone else. The delegate can then log in as that user and perform their
activities for them on their behalf.

Dear Jonathan,

Thanks very much for your reply. I would like to ask you a few questions and
your reply is much appreciated.

1. How does team assignment work? I have problem that once a team member
self-assigned a task, other team memeber cannot self-assign that task. Our
original purpose of setting up a team is every team member can self-assign
the task without heavy workload on Project Manager. The other problem is when
one has a self-assigned task, he cannot self-assign other tasks, which means
one can only do a job at a time for team assignment tasks.
2. Any way we can change the my resources unsubmitted timesheet to work same
as pending approval, so that we can click the timesheet to show the details,
so that we can copy the details to the surrogate timesheet. Best of all, if
we can update/submit the timesheet, then our problem is solved. Can we use
data analysis to see details of unsubmitted timesheet?
3. How powerful is the data analysis? I need to calculate the cost based on
a % field in the project. If it is of certain values, time hours will use
this percentage for calcualtion, while if it is of other values, time hours
will use another field in the resource for calculation. Can this be done in
data analysis. If not, how can we do it?
