Updated Software affected Access to Office

To Whom It May Concern:

I recently purchased a Gateway netbook through Verizon Wireless, and it came
with Windows XP installed on it. I spoke to a Gateway representative and they
said that I was able to upgrade my system to Windows 7, in a number of steps.
First, I upgraded my Updater through your Microsoft website, with Live
Update. Then, I updated my Windows XP with Live Update. Before updating it, I
had a trial version of Office XP loaded onto my computer. After converting
it, it is now asking me for a product key. I entered the product key shown on
the bottom of my netbook, but it did not accept it. I spoke to a Verizon
Wireless technical support representative, and he explained that the product
key on the bottom of the netbook was for Windows XP, and not the product key
I needed for Office XP, but that I was still able to access the trial version
of Office XP, and that I should contact a Microsoft Technical Support
representative regarding this matter. That is why I am now posting this
thread. Is there anybody that can please help me with this issue? Please let
me know, because I need to access Word to do my schoolwork! Thank you!

Gateway should have supplied you with the key when you bought the netbook. There is
nothing that MS can do about that
You now have to go out and purchase Office and the Home and Student version is not
very expensive to purchase

Or, you could try out OpenOffice.org.
You can save docs in Word's .doc, Excel's .xls, and Powerpoint's .ppt
formats... and it's free
