Updates with actuals are not displayed properly

When I try to update with actuals (against the baseline) in MS Project 2003,
the actual start and finish dates are displayed as pound/sharp (##)
characters rather than the dates I've entered. On mouse-over, the dates are
visible, but not when I move the cursor away.

Why?

Hello Janick,

The column is not wide enough to show all values. Double click in
the column heading to "best fit" the column width to the widest
entry.

True enough Trevor -- but how easy or hard it is for someone to
