I am creating a CD presentation using Powerpoint, with
movies, etc. I only have Powerpoing 97 - what are the
advantages to having the updated versions or at least 2000?

if you want to update, IMHO you should update to PPT 2002/XP. The
differences between PPT 97 and 2000 are not that big, but the 2002 version
brought a lot of improvements regarding animations, transitions and so on.

BUT: If the users of the CD have older versions, they will not be able to
see these new features or they should download the new PPT-2003-Viewer,
available for free since yesterday.

The new PowerPoint-version 2003 will be on the shelves in October, maybe you
might want to wait until then before updating?
