Updation by Project owner

Hello,

Can the Project Owner update in place of team members in case of need. If
so, any specific right has to be allowed or denied? How it has to be done?

As, I have done an updation on behalf of a team member by opening the
project in MSP and making it 100% complete against the work column.I dont
know idf its the right approach. But next time when I opened the project it
displays "Should there be a sync with timesheet and ..."

So I am confused.

Girija,

Yes, a PM can update time for others using Surrogate Timesheets. That
feature must be enabled in Project Web Access permissions. If it is
enabled, you will see a Surrogate Timesheet button in the My
Timesheets menu bar.

As far as updating time by updating the % Complete in Project - if you
are tracking actual work and actual costs, that's probably not the
best approach as Project assumes that the actuals and planned values
(hours, duration, cost, etc) are the same. So if the work was
actually complete under-budget, using the % Complete method will make
it look like it was exactly to budget. In any event, the message you
got is asking if you want to sync the updates you made with the
timesheet, to show that the task is complete from a timesheet
perspective. You should accept that action.

What is the name of the feature one must enable to surrogate timesheets?
Are we taking PWA 2003?

Mark,

How do I enable Surrogate Timesheets. Also I had one more doubt. Hope this
takes care of sync between the timesheet of the team member and the project
Manager,if the team member has semi completed and is later continued by
Project Manager.
