Upgrade dilema

When my old Dell computer was struck by lightning last year, I bought a new
Compaq. It came with Office Word 2007 but I needed Publisher and Outlook,
so I installed the Office 2003 Professional edition I had bought for the old
computer. As most of you probably know, and I soon found out, Outlook 2003
and Word 2007 do not work well together, so I decided to check out Office
2007. I downloaded the trial version of Office Professional 2007 and I
really like it. The only thing that worries me is that the 2007 trial
version wiped out the 2003 version and now how do I upgrade? Is it necessary
to un-install the trial 2007and re-install the 2003 in order to be able to
upgrade, or do I simply need proof that I bought the 2003 version? If I need
to re-install, will I have trouble re-installing the 2003 version?

Delete all versions of Office including the Trial and then re-install Office 2007
that you purchased. When it asks for a qualifying product just insert your old
Office 2003 CD as proof

You purchase the upgrade version from your prefered supplier, eg one that
supplies a cd, uninstall the trial version, then install your upgrade using
the qualifying version cd (2003) to validate the upgrade

After you uninstall the Office 2007 Trial version, check to see if Word 2007
is still installed. It is possible that Compaq installed Word 2007 as part
of some version of the Works Suite. IMO, if Word 2007 is still installed,
you should uninstall Word 2007 before installing Office 2007. Doing so will
avoid any problems with Installing Office updates. Also, if you do have a
version of Works installed, you have a qualifying product installed.

Amazon.com is a good source for low price purchases.
