Upgrade from Home/Student edition to Standard?

Is it possible to upgrade from the Office for Home and Student edition to the
Standard edition? If so, what's the process?

Thanks.

You just buy it and install it, however you can also buy Outlook on its

I have a feeling that you can't upgrade from Home and Student - you have to
buy the full version.....

I bought a new laptop and erroneously activated the Office Home and Student
2007 (I have a home office -- that seemed to match!). I should have activated
Office Standard 2007. Saying "you can upgrade it" is insufficient. I expected
Word, because it indicated I bought the wrong version with its
"non-commercial use" banner in the title bar, to have help for upgrading from
HSE to Standard. The upgrade should be in line with the price difference. Is
the only way to "upgrade" to have my credit card company cancel the
transaction and for me to buy the upgrade based on my previous computer's
Office 2003?

Thanks

Please note that JoAnn, along with me and the vast majority of posters in
this group, is a volunteer and not a Microsoft employee.

You can use the Office Home and Student 2007 suite as a qualifying product
for the Office Standard 2007 Upgrade. That means you can purchase the
Upgrade version of the suite instead of paying for the full, nonupgrade
version of the suite. Yes, there is quite a price difference there, although
I completely admit I don't know what you mean when you say, "The upgrade
should be in line with the price difference."

Since you already have Office 2003, then yes, that also is a qualifying
product for the Office Standard 2007 Upgrade.

So if you can return Office Home and Student 2007, whether that's to where
you originally purchased it or via your credit card company, you should
probably do that.
