upgrade microsoft works 9 to office 2007

I'm trying to install Office 2007 and bought the upgrade rather than the full
version because it's stated on the box that the upgrade will work with
microsoft works suite. I get a message that says the product doesn't qualify.
I tried to install the download listed on the package for Office but had to
install a disk. Problem is, my version is installed on the computer as part
of a package and I don't have a disk. I would appreciate any help.

This is a known issue, see Microsoft's KB article for workaround
