Upgrade of Office 2007

C

Charles Leung

I'm using Office 2003 Student and Teacher edition and OneNote 2003. Should
I do the upgrade or the uninstallation of all 2003 components before
installing Office 2007 Home and Student edition? Will my data still be kept
if taking unstallation and installation approach?

BTW, Outlook 2007 is not in the Home and Student edition. Is there one for
Outlook 2007 or do I need to buy a standalone Outlook 2007?

Thanks.

Hi Charles Leung,

When doing any significant change to a computer's software or hardware configuration, it's usually a good practice to back up your
files, just in case :)

Installing the Office 2007 Home & Student Edition and using a Custom installation choice in Setup will allow you to determine what,
if any Office 2003 apps to keep. Outlook 2003 should be retained if you plan to use Outlook, as the Home and Student Edition, as
you pointed out, includes Onenote in place of Outlook. You would need to purchase Outlook 2007 upgrade to add it. Outlook 2003,
probably won't be able to use Word 2007 as its email editor.

Last night I tried creating an email with Pub 2007 to send to my husband at
work. Since I only have Outlook 2003 it would only go thru as an attachment,
not the body of the email. I assume the same would happen to Word 2007.

(I saved the email and then opened it in Pub 2003. Sent it thru that way. Of
course we're having an ice storm so neither of us is going to work today so
he won't see the Valentine's message I sent to his office until tomorrow.
That's okay, I'll still love him then.)

Hi Charles,

Yes, the Office 2007 Home and Student edition allows 3 machine installs. It does not include MS Outlook (but rather OneNote), a
change from the Office 2003 Student & Teacher's edition.
