Upgrade Office XP through router firewall?

S

SilverCross

I need to do an upgrade to Office XP.
It did not succeed.
It MAY be the firewall in my router which is between my modem and my computer.
What should I look for and how?

Hi, SilverCross. To upgrade to Office XP, you have to have a qualifying
product (either Office 2000 or Office 97). Then insert the Office XP
upgrade CD, run the setup program, and follow the instructions on the
screen. If the qualifying product is not currently installed, insert
the qualifying product CD in the CD-ROM drive when prompted by the
installer program. The only time your firewall would come into play is
when you activate Office XP.

Sorry, I did quite a POOR job of asking my question.

When I try to Upgrade it the update is unsuccessful....

Hi, Clyde. Some firewalls require that you add the Office Update site to the
firewall's list of trusted sites. Also see
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=839191 "'Installation unsuccessful' error
message when you try to install Office XP SP3 from the Office Update Web
site", which may also apply if your copy of Office XP came preinstalled on
your computer (many OEMs use an admin install point to image hard drives).
