Upgrade Office XP tp 2003?

I have a machine with an Office XP install that was installed locally via
the CD. Is it best to upgrade it to Office 2003 locally via CD again or can
I push out an Office 2003 Software Installation GPO? Do I need to/Can I set
anything to let the GPO know that this is an upgrade or to uninstall any
previous office install (even though it was done locally)?
