Upgrade to new Business Edition

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I *just* purchased Office 2008 late last week and have now seen there is a new version about to be released. Rats!

People buying PCs with Vista are being offered free upgrades to Windows 7. Am I going to be asked for the full upgrade price to get the new Business Edition? What are the new features?

The EWS version is only required if you have Exchange support and meet the
requirements (it only works with Exchange Server 2007). It's also FREE to
Office 2008 users.

Entourage 2008, Web Services Edition has launched (The Entourage Help Blog)

This rebranding of the name is going to confuse a lot of people.

Ah - so that new one in the black packaging is the EWS? Okay, sweet, I already have that.

Boy, that *is* a little confusing. Thanks for clearing that up!

new one in the black packaging is the EWS?

AFAIK. Almost nothing has been posted on this, but I would think if there
was something the MVPs would have been notified.

This is a new *edition* of Office 2008, not an entirely new version of
Office. The only differences are:

* Entourage Web Services Edition is included by default (can also be
downloaded for free by owners of other editions of Office 2008).
* Microsoft Document Connection is included by default (is also installed if
you apply the SP2 update to any other edition of Office 2008).
* The Business edition includes additional cliparts and templates.
* The Business edition includes 8 hours of training videos from Lynda.com.

As you can see, there is nothing too compelling inside the new Business
edition for anyone who already owns Office 2008; it is more interesting for
those who want to upgrade from a previous version of Office, or who have
never owned a version of Office before.

Right, the black box simply is a new marketing approach with Mac Office
2008. The bundle targets medium to large business users. It's the same core
products as in any other "edition" of 2008, however, except for the EWS --
not a new version/release of Office. The only other difference is what comes
bundled with Office 2008 in that edition, as Michel detailed in his reply.
