Upgrade Vision 2000 SP2 (6.1.4530)

Is it possible to upgrade above online to something more recent that
overcomes backward incompatibility problem? Will I have to buy a subsequent
version and start over?

What happens to my files I have saved in 2000?

visio 2000 is not eligible for an upgrade, you will have to purchase new.
All current versions of visio can read their predecessors. The exposure
comes if your early files take advantage of embedded code or add-ins, since
that is where many of the changes occured.
