I just purchased Office 2003 Upgrade and have been running
the beta version of 2003 for several months - how do I
install the upgrade - do I have to uninstall the beta
version and reinstall office XP?

No and no. The installation process will uninstall the beta and prompt for
the Office XP CD when eligibility verification is necessary.
