When I open files created in 2.0 they don't show. It looks like its opening
them but its a blank. I am running win2000pro, and have upgraded to pub97
using a 60 day trial that was on my office97 cd.
Please help.

There is no reason why they should not show. Is the screen just blank, or
is it only the pictures

It's the same screen you get when you have the app open, but haven't yet
opened a file, but the title block at the top (above file, edit, etc.)
changes to show that I do have the file open. Make sense?

Thanks for the help

Well, hmmm do I understand - well - not really. Perhaps I am having an Ed
day, but I don't think so. That title block along the top always changes
once the active program has the focus - it has nothing to with having a file
open.

I presume there is nothing showing on the screen, is that correct?

How many files have you tried to open?

Joe are these files of yours on the local hard drive?

What version of Windows is this version of Publisher 97 running on?

What are you going to do once your 60 days has run out?

Well I really feel like a dummy. I should have known better. The program
itself was acting strange, so I did some routine maintenance and rebooted
the computer.
All seems well now. The program is opening the files perfectly and is very
responsive.
To answer your one question, I do intend to buy it, being the cheapskate
that I am though, I am limited to 97 or 98. Any recommendations on one over
the other. I am running win2000pro as an operating system, and Thank you
very much for your help.

Regards,
Joe

No contest Publisher 97 is twice the program of Publisher 98. Publisher 98
was known as Publisher 49 as it was only half a program. They took
Publisher 97, removed more than half the features, called it a fabulous
upgrade and it was a disgusting blatant rip-off by Microsoft. There was not
one new feature added to Publisher 49.

Many of us here still run Publisher 97 today for certain jobs.
The best versions of Publisher are Publisher 2.0, Publisher 97 and Publisher
2003.

The worst versions of Publisher would be Publisher 49 (98) and Publisher
2000.
