Upgraded Mac OS, now I can't hotsync

I have a Palm Tungsten E and in the past have had no trouble hotsyncing
it with my Microsoft Entourage 2004 using the Conduit Manager that came
with the application. But since I upgraded my iMac G5's OS from 10.4.4
to 10.4.5 last week, I can no longer hotsync. If I press the hotsync
button on my Palm, it just hangs. I finally have to cancel, at which
point an error message tells me that "the connection could not be
established."

Once, and only once, I was able to hotsync this week by launching the
Conduit Manager software in my Palm folder. But I have not been able to
reproduce that result when I tried again. I've also tried different USB
ports, to no avail.

The Microsoft and Apple websites seem to be mum about this issue, so I
don't know if anyone else has a solution? As of now, I'm stuck.

Thanks,
Chuck
